Connecting your AI assistant

Give an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT secure, read-only access to your business — so it can answer questions about your jobs, bookings and invoices for you.

What the key is

An access key is a secret token that lets one AI assistant read your RipperReceptionist business. You create it in your dashboard, paste it into your assistant once, and from then on the assistant can look things up for you — “what have I got booked tomorrow?”, “which invoices are unpaid?” — without you opening the app. You can create more than one (one per assistant) and switch any of them off at any time.

How to connect

Your assistant needs two things — the address of the server and your key as a header:

Header: x-mcp-key set to your key

Menus differ between assistants and change often, so look for the general area rather than an exact path. If your assistant doesn’t offer connectors or custom MCP servers yet, that feature may not be on your plan.

Add to Claude

In Claude, open Settings and find Connectors (it may be called “Custom connectors” or “MCP servers”). Availability depends on your Claude plan.

Add a new connector / remote MCP server with this URL: https://ripperreceptionist.com/api/mcp

Add a request header named x-mcp-key and paste your key as its value.

Save and enable it, then ask Claude something like “list my recent invoices” to check it works.

Add to ChatGPT

What it can and can’t do

Read access (what every key has today) lets your assistant look up your jobs, bookings, quotes, invoices and orders, plus your business profile — names, hours and industry. That’s all it can do: it can read, and nothing else.

Write access — letting an assistant send things or take actions on your behalf — is a separate, stronger permission that stays off unless you deliberately turn it on. A read key can never change your data, send messages, or move money.

Keep your key safe

  • Treat it like a password. Anyone with the key can read your business — don’t email it, post it, or paste it anywhere public.
  • We show it once. When you create a key we show the full value a single time and store only a fingerprint, so we can never show it to you again. Copy it straight into your assistant.
  • Lost it, or shared it by mistake? Revoke it. In your dashboard settings, open “Connect your AI assistant”, revoke the key, and mint a new one — the old key stops working immediately.
